Bright Beginnings Preschool Summer Camp
June 27-August 26, 2022
Ages 2 ½ yrs old-5 yrs old (before kindergarten)
(Prek3 going into kindergarten 9/22)
The YMCA can offer your preschooler opportunities all summer long. The positive behaviors, friendships, learning and exploration they create are only limited by their imagination. The Y will help nurture their imagination….
Weather it is time to have your preschooler acclimate to a school day or routine for September or to keep them engaged and active, your child will come home smiling each day from the opportunities they are offered throughout the summer in the Y’s preschool camp.
Children experience the best of both worlds-learning and play. They have structure in their day, that includes a time to learn-such as circle time– and a time to play such as going to the water park. Sometimes both learning and fun happen all at the same time-which is most of the time at the Y!
The preschool summer camp is staffed with childcare professionals who work with children all year long, not just summer time. Childcare is their chosen profession. All have educational qualification and experience as well as being trained in first aid and cpr. Many are continuing their education for higher levels of educational learning and qualifications.
This means we:
- Prepare developmentally appropriate activities so children are challenged, not bored; and successful, not frustrated.
- Provide enough activities so children don’t have to wait too long or share beyond their ability.
- Provide toys and activities in all areas— physical, social, intellectual, creative, and emotional—so children with different interests and learning styles will all have their needs met.
- Make sure children have an opportunity to have input into the daily activities.

- Weekly Water Park Trips

A Summer To Remember
June 27-August 26, 2022
SUMMER DAY CAMP (Ages 6 to 16)
YMCA Day camp provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values (Honesty, Caring,Respect and Responsibility), conflict resolution and leadership skills. Campers have fun while building self-confidence, appreciating teamwork and gaining independence. Day camp activities allow kids to create arts and crafts, explore science and technology, swim and appreciate nature. When a child attends our summer day camp, he or she sees the Y community consistently modeling these values and before long, they become second nature. Program includes free lunch, one t-shirt and swim camp.
*We offer field trips, Specialty Camps, Karate, Swim Team and progressive swim lessons for an additional fee.

C.I.T. COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING | Ages 13-16
The YMCA Counselor-in-Training program is designed to foster student interest in community development and leadership with children in a camp setting. This is an excellent, eight-week opportunity for teenagers to build confidence and have fun while learning the necessary skills to become successful leaders and counselors.
The program includes implementing camp curriculum, decision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, and team building. A day in the life of a CIT includes swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, fitness, creating a camp activity, community service, and leadership training. A certificate will be presented to campers who successfully complete the entire eight-week Counselor-in-Training program.
CIT’s are never responsible for the direct supervision of children. The CIT will assist counselors with programs and activities and will be responsible for helping the children to learn skills. The program is divided into two major components: a 90-minute workshop in the morning and a practicum in the afternoon.
Specific duties:
- Assist counselors to prepare equipment and supplies for activities.
- Help to secure supplies and equipment after activities.
- Aid children in their learning by providing a good example.
- Help to teach skills to campers and monitor activity areas.
- Provide children with role models; help them grow in character.
- Help children keep track of their belongings.
- Contribute ideas to make the program better.
- Report any unsafe actions to supervisor
