New Jersey Membership Reciprocity Program
The spirit behind the reciprocity program is founded in the belief that the Y is one movement and that we want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can in order to meet their health and wellness goals. Sometimes, it is more convenient for a Y member to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region. This program allows active, full facility/full privileged members this flexibility to use other Y facilities and therefore also increases the value of Y membership.
Who is eligible to participate in the program?
The program is for active full facility/full privilege adult member or youth/teen members on a family membership when accompanied by an adult to any YMCA facility in New Jersey that is participating in the program. In order to participate, Y members must maintain an active full facility/full privilege membership at their home Y and visit their home Y more frequently than the visiting Y. Members with a short term or limited membership may be eligible depending on the guidelines established by the Y they will be visiting. Members should check with that facility regarding restrictions prior to visiting.
Is there a fee to participate?
No, this program is offered as a benefit for all active full facility/full privilege members. All the member must do is maintain an active membership at their home Y and visit their home Y more frequently than the host Y.
Why are there some Ys in NJ that are not participating in reciprocity?
While most of the Ys in NJ have chosen to participate in the program, some have not. This is a choice on the part of that Y. Ys are not forced to join the program. Please remember, Ys are operated independently of each other which allows the leadership of those Ys the ability to determine their own operating procedures.
How do our members find out about restrictions in place at other YMCAs?
Each YMCA is required to outline any program participation restrictions on their website. You are encouraged to go to the website of the Y you intend to use or to call the Y, prior to visiting. You may also visit the New Jersey State Alliance Web site for a list of participating Ys and links to Web Sites.

Adult members who wish to take our wellness programs may do so at member rates.
