Thirty minutes of conditioning exercises for the torso and abdominal area. Also may include lower back exercises for balance.  Thursdays 5:00 p.m. Free for members, non-members $30. Drop in Rate: $15



This is a 60 minute total body workout. A moderate to high intensity workout revolving around intervals of cardio, mixed with strength/conditioning exercises to give you a balanced workout.  Classes will he held outside so prepare to get dirty, bring a towel.  First week the program will meet at 20th Century Field located on Elizabeth St in Garfield. Please make sure to give your email address when registering so instructor can communicate meeting place if inclement weather. Tuesdays 6:45-7:45 a.m. Free for members, non-members $50. Meets once a month for a party! These parties are usually held after a silver sneakers class, about 11:30 a.m. Every month, members who are celebrating a birthday will be honored, including holiday celebrations with a 
costume party for Halloween. Participants pay a small price to cover lunch and the fun and entertainment is provided. Our seniors have been known to sing at their parties, bring in baked goods, homemade dishes, etc…  Parties meet at 70 Outwater Lane, are usually held the second week of the month. The signup sheet for parties is located at 33 Outwater Lane. 2-3 times a year our group meets outside of the Y at a restaurant for their party!

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and or standing support.

Yoga Stretch will teach a blend of three yoga styles to create a harmony of movement for the whole body. It is taught from both seated and standing position to enhance the flow and energy created in combination with restorative breathing exercises. Held on Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. Free for Silver Sneakers Members, $10 for Members, $50 non-members. Drop in rate: $15



 The Class will incorporate body sculpting, cardio and circuit training with a Reebok step. Each week participants will enjoy a new workout routine. Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 p.m. Great for all levels of fitness. $10 members, $50 non-members. Drop in rate: $15



This class is taught by a certified yoga instructor. The class incorporates all aspects of yoga: physical (asana) breathing (pranayama) deep relaxation and meditation. Class is held on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:15 a.m. Cost is $20 for members and $120 for non-members. Drop in Rate: $15 (Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a yoga mat and a blanket to class. Yoga mats available at the Y for $10.00)



Self Defense, Cardio training, and strength training.  Mondays 5:30-6:30pm OR Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm. Members $10; non-members $50.  Drop in Rate: $15



A perfect mix of yoga and Pilates. This class will help you relax while strengthening your muscles and giving your body an overall leaning and lengthening work out. Tuesdays7:30-8:30 p.m. or Fridays 5:00-6:00 p.m. Members $10, non-members $50. Drop in rate: $15



 A fusion of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps to the tune of international music. An intense, energetic, dance-aerobics workout, no dance experience required. Zumba is fun and energetic, Latin-based dance exercise featuring salsa, flamenco, meringue, mambo, samba, afro-Caribbean, belly dance and more. Zumba turns exercise into a dance party and can burn 500 to 700 calories in an hour. Class is one hour long. Tuesdays 12:00 or Thursdays 6:30 p.m. or Saturdays 9:00 a.m. $10 members, $50 non-members. 



All abilities and levels welcome as your instructor leads the group with a warm up, ride and cool down. Your ride will consist of hills, climbs, maximum exertion, and pleasant straight aways. Your instructor will motivate you to stay focused and push yourself, but it’s up to you to choose your comfort level. All classes are 45 minutes long.  Tuesday 6:15 a.m. or Thursdays 6:15 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. Members: $10 Non-Members $50. Drop in Rate: $15 



A Fitness Bootcamp Class is an intense interval training and strength training class. It starts with a strong cardiovascular workout that includes plyometrics and in place cardio exercises that are sure to leave you dripping sweat; while improving resistance and increasing stamina. Follow by weight training that will condition and tone arms, legs and chest. Later, class will move on to an intense abdominal work out, pilates exercises as well as other killer core exercises. Last but not least, a relaxing stretch section that will target all areas of the body and will introduce yoga poses. In any Bootcamp class we will utilize a variety of fitness equipment such as 3 and 5lbs. weights, medicine balls, power bars, cones, yoga mats, chairs and much more to make our classes enjoyable and different every time. If you are looking to maximize you calorie burning count, rest assured that we will burn over 600 calories easily and if you want to increase your fitness level, this class will leave you gasping for air. The Masala Bhangra Workout® is a complete cardiovascular workout that blends traditional Bhangra dance steps with the exhilaration of Bollywood (Hindi film) The workout provides overall toning, body conditioning and can build endurance, stamina and balance, in addition to burning up to 500 calories per class (depending on the individual. Fridays 7:00-7:45 p.m. Members $10, Non-Members $50. Drop in Rate $15. Accessories sold separately for class (not required) and may be purchased from your Instructor.



Class is taught by a registered yoga teacher. Yoga means "union". Hatha Yoga integrates between the body, mind, and spirit to find one's inner peace and enhances one's well-being through asanas, breath control, and deep relaxation. A one hour session is designed to stimulate the chakras and distress from our modern society so one can live happier and healthier. Mondays 7:00-8:15 p.m. Cost is $20 for members and $120 for non-members. Drop in Rate: $15. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a yoga mat to class. The Y has exercise mats that may be used if participant does not own a mat.



Get in the studio and exercise! A variety of different cardio and sculpting disciplines using various soft equipment like resistance bands, medicine and exercise balls, weights, mats, body bars and steps. You may even Spin for cardio from time to time. Mondays 6:00-6:45 p.m. $10 members, $50 non-members. Drop in rate: $15. 



Class will provide students with the necessary information to improve their lives and overall health. If you're looking for increased mobility, energy and mental clarity this is the class for you. Qigong means cultivating energy, it is a system practiced for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality. Practices can increase the Qi, circulate it, use it to cleanse and heal the body, store it, or emit Qi to help heal others. The slow gentle movements of most Qigong forms can be easily adapted, even for the physically challenged and can be practiced by all age groups. By manipulating Qi through physical contact and meditation, many common bodily ailments can be treated and prevented, bringing you to a better state of health and wellness. Qi gong’s great appeal is that everyone can benefit, regardless of ability, age, and belief system or life circumstances. Look for our Qi Gong schedule on Wednesday evenings that will start in late September.

Breathing and Meditation 

Oxygen is the most important food for the human body and our survival. Through the practice of Pranayama (Breathing Technique), one can establish healthy breathing habits and to detoxify the body. Meditation is a method of steadiness. Meditation improves psycho-physical poise, tranquility, reduces the stress, and leads to deep relaxation. One can get many benefits for their overall health by reducing one's stress level. Workshop conducted by Registered Yoga Instructor.

Belly Dance Workshop

Chadia is a Master instructor, choreographer and performer of Middle Eastern Dance, best known as “Belly Dance”.  She has been teaching and choreographing for over 25 years and incorporates her own fun and innovative style into her dance. Chadia is trained in Classical Egyptian Dance by top Middle Eastern dance artists in NYC and Egypt.  She has performed as a soloist in various Middle Eastern Restaurants in NYC and NJ, and has taught many workshops throughout the years for the Belly Dance community. She is the Director of two dance troupes: “Chadia and the Caravan Dancers” and “Chadia & The Goddess Dancers”

Chadia’s love and enthusiasm for Belly Dance are evident in her Classes!

· NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Ages 17 and up are welcome to attend. Must Pre-Register.

· Belly dancing provides great exercise

· You do NOT have to come to class bare midriff! Just comfortable clothes that are not too baggy.
